home Made High Chair

High chairs for little children are still in use today. They have lots of new features for the comfort of the child and the convenience of the mother. In yesteryear, the high chair was designed for sitting and eating (messing). The chairs were made of wood and were about four feet high, although that was certainly not a standard measurement. They were crafted by the man of the house, a friend, or relative. Many times they were given as a gift for the "first" child, and passed on down for use by those that followed. This (see photo) one had many little butts in it because the family had many children in it.
