Once an icon of economic development and wealth, the oil well derrick is now disapperaing from view. Changing times and drilling technology have rendered the derrick a relic of the past.
For instance, a few decades ago, one could go to many towns in Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma and see as many as 40 derricks from a single location.
Times and people change leaving behind lifestyles, equipment, and legends that they now hold dear. If you know where an oil well derrick is located........photograph it before it's gone!
