Alligators
Once upon a time, long ago, alligators were as common as song birds in the southern coastal States. They were the masters of everything, the top of the food chain and unchallenged in any physical activity. They were the czars of the swamp. Then the hide became popular for items such as shoes, belts, purses, and other specialty items. The hunt was on. This fierce creature was hunted and trapped until near extension. Through the help of conservation efforts, the alligator is back. He is once again the king of the swamp. May he reign forever.
