Early Cooling Fan Designs
Yep! You are looking at a 1920 to 1950 "air conditioning" system. Wasn't much - but it beat nothing. Early fans were small with a few little blades. A "fancy" one would actually oscillate. Most didn't. A big fan measured about 14 inches across. As people could afford it they: 1. bought a big "window" fan to blow in outside air 2. put up ceiling fans to cool rooms 3. installed a "whole house" attic fan to draw outside air into the house 4. purshased large fans on stands with rollers. They could be moved from room to room. Man.......that was really living!!!
Sure we still have fans to move air today. But they are used to "support" our air
conditioning system. In the early days.......they were the air conditioning system!
