Metal Spoked Wheels

Car and truck production began in Detroit in the early 1900's. They began to appear in the rural areas about ten to fifteen years later. The desire for vehicle ownership was high. Since the beginning of time, man had mostly walked or rode a beast of burden for transportation. Now......there was this wonderful motorized vehicle called an autromobile to take you places! Trucks also came on the scene about the same time. Here was a vehicle that could haul great amounts of cargo to distant places. They were instant hits with the public. One part of these early vehicles were the spoked wheels. Most of the time spokes were made of metal....although some were made of wood. They were "standard equipment" then just like radios are standard equipment in vehicles today.
